The FTSE 100, also known as the Financial Times Stock Exchange 100 Index, is a share index of the 100 companies listed on the London Stock Exchange with the highest market capitalization. As of the latest update, the FTSE 100 rose by 53.53 points, or 0.61%, to end the day at 8,809.742. This increase was driven by hopes of a potential trade deal between the UK and the US.

Some of the top gainers included housebuilders like Persimmon, Berkeley Group, Taylor Wimpey, and Barratt Redrow. On the other hand, some of the biggest fallers were St James’s Place, Antofagasta, and Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust.
